Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is now reportedly calling for the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities, asserting that negotiations with the Iranian regime are futile.
His comments came in response to rising tensions and a Reuters article highlighting Iran’s threats to retaliate against potential U.S. or Israeli attacks.
Fetterman stated, “We cannot negotiate with Iran. It’s time to destroy their nuclear program and neutralize the remaining capabilities of its proxies.”
He reaffirmed his support for Israel, urging that they be provided with whatever resources are necessary to accomplish this military objective.
This stance aligns with Fetterman’s consistent backing of Israel, particularly following the devastating Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which killed approximately 1,200 people.
In a previous interview, he expressed a strong desire to take decisive action against Iran, stating, “Waste that s—t,” when discussing its nuclear ambitions.
However, these aggressive statements have raised concerns about Fetterman’s mental fitness, especially after reports of erratic behavior following his hospitalization for depression in early 2023.
Sources cited in an Intelligencer article described instances where Fetterman allegedly exhibited bizarre behavior, including walking into traffic and making inflammatory remarks about Palestinians during private meetings.
Despite these concerns, Fetterman has denied making any calls for indiscriminate violence against Palestinians, clarifying that any references to killing were directed solely at Hamas.
He emphasized his commitment to destroying the group, stating he supports eliminating it “down to its last member.”
Fetterman’s bold rhetoric reflects a significant escalation in his position on military action in the Middle East, positioning him firmly in favor of aggressive measures against perceived threats to U.S. and Israeli security.
