Karoline Leavitt announced a personal milestone on Thursday, revealing that she is expecting her second child, a daughter due in May 2026, even as she continues to serve in one of the most visible roles in the Trump administration.

Leavitt shared the news in an Instagram post timed to the Christmas holiday, calling the pregnancy “The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for – a baby girl coming in May 2026.” She wrote that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, are looking forward to expanding their family, adding, “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”

The couple already has a son, Nicholas Robert “Niko” Riccio, born in July 2024, noted The Daily Caller. Leavitt has frequently shared glimpses of family life online, including photos of bringing their toddler to the White House, blending the demands of public service with early motherhood.

Leavitt also highlighted what she described as strong institutional support within the administration, writing, “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!” The statement pointedly underscored a broader message the administration has sought to emphasize about family life and workplace culture.

Leavitt married Riccio, a real estate developer 32 years her senior, in January 2025, shortly before President Donald Trump began his second term. She has previously addressed public attention surrounding the age difference, describing Riccio positively during a February appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, where she referred to him as her “greatest supporter” and “best friend.”
