Fox News dominated its competitors with its Republican National Convention coverage this week, reportedly pulling in a record 10 million viewers by 10 p.m. on the final night of the Milwaukee-based event.
According to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News had the most viewers for RNC coverage.
The first night, which was co-moderated by Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier and aired at 10 p.m., had an average of 6.9 million viewers, including more than 1.2 million in the critical 25-54 demographic.
Sean Hannity’s discussion with Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), the GOP’s vice presidential nominee, nearly matched those numbers, with more over six million viewers on the same night.
For example, CNN and MSNBC had one million and 1.8 million viewers at 9 p.m., respectively, and 1.1 million and 1.3 million the following hour.
Fox News’ second night of RNC coverage averaged more than five million viewers, with over 900,000 in the 25-54 demo during their 10 p.m. round.
The same block of coverage on Wednesday night drew seven million people, with approximately 1.3 million in the 25-54 demographic.
This was the night Vance spoke to the crowd as Trump’s running mate.
On night three of the convention, the network accounted for 76% of the total cable news viewing audience.
Compared to 2016, Fox has witnessed double-digit gains, while CNN has lost more than 60% of its daytime and primetime viewers.
MSNBC has also lost over 30% of its daytime viewers and more than 40% of its primetime audience.
