Tucker Carlson has now reportedly declared that there is only one Republican capable of continuing Donald Trump’s legacy in the 2028 election: Vice President JD Vance.
Speaking on the VINCE podcast with host Vince Coglianese, Carlson asserted that Vance’s loyalty and service to Trump make him uniquely qualified to expand the president’s legacy.
Carlson emphasized the desire for individuals to leave a lasting legacy, suggesting that Vance embodies this aspiration within the GOP.
He confidently stated, “I don’t see any other conceivable option,” declaring Vance as the likely nominee for the Republican party. Both Carlson and Coglianese noted that Trump’s careful avoidance of discussing Vance’s potential run in 2028 was a tactic to safeguard the vice president from the pressures of next election.
Vance, who has been a strong ally of Trump, is seen as a key figure in maintaining the former president’s influence within the party.
While Carlson is supportive of Vance, not all Trump supporters are ready to pass the torch. Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon recently indicated on NewsNation that efforts are underway to possibly allow Trump to run for a third term.
The conversation highlighted the dynamics within the GOP as it prepares for the future leadership landscape.
Carlson’s endorsement adds to the buzz surrounding Vance, particularly since his son, Buckley, works as Vance’s press secretary, creating a personal connection within that endorsement.
As the Republican Party navigates its post-Trump era, Carlson’s remarks could play a significant role in shaping discussions about the next viable candidate, positioning Vance as a figure of interest moving forward in the party’s evolution.
