Ashley St. Clair, the mother of one of Elon Musk’s children, is making waves after telling podcast host Don Lemon that she personally witnessed the billionaire using ketamine and psychedelic mushrooms recreationally — allegations that go well beyond his previous claims of therapeutic use.
St. Clair, who shares a son named Romulus with the Tesla and SpaceX chief, opened up during an interview after Lemon brought up Musk’s past admission that he uses prescription ketamine. Musk has said publicly that he was prescribed the drug to treat depression, but St. Clair pushed back hard on that framing, saying what she saw didn’t look like legitimate medical treatment.
She said she had personally witnessed Musk using ketamine “in a party sense” around New Year’s, and claimed he was privately anxious at the time about the possibility of being drug-tested because of his government contracts, worried officials might test his fingernails.
St. Clair made clear she isn’t personally against recreational drug use, but she accused Musk of flatly lying to the public about his own habits, saying the scale of his dishonesty on the subject is “astonishing.” When Lemon pressed further on whether ketamine was the only substance she had seen him use, St. Clair said no — she also claimed to have witnessed him taking mushrooms, along with other substances she couldn’t identify.
The claims echo a 2025 New York Times investigation that reported Musk’s drug use intensified as he became more deeply involved in politics, allegedly including ketamine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. Musk pushed back hard against that report at the time, attacking the paper’s credibility and posting what he said were negative drug test results.
The controversy also became entangled in Musk’s very public falling-out with President Donald Trump, with reports surfacing that Trump privately referred to his former adviser as a “drug addict.”
St. Clair declined to name other individuals she claimed were aware of Musk’s alleged drug use, telling Lemon she feared he might retaliate against them. When Lemon asked whether they were recognizable public figures, she said simply that they were people “the whole world knows” — leaving the door open for more revelations down the road.
