President Donald Trump said Friday that he is preparing to make a final decision on a potential agreement with Iran, outlining a series of demands he says must be satisfied as negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump announced that he would be heading to the Situation Room “to make a final determination” on the matter. The president did not specify whether the conditions he listed are already incorporated into a draft agreement under discussion between U.S. and Iranian negotiators.

Among the key requirements Trump identified was a commitment by Iran to permanently abandon any effort to develop a nuclear weapon. He also called for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes, with unrestricted two-way shipping traffic and no tolls.

Trump also addressed the status of the U.S. naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman, writing that it “will now be lifted.” It was not immediately clear whether that action would occur immediately or only after Iran meets the administration’s broader conditions.

The president further stated that enriched nuclear material buried at facilities struck by U.S. B-2 bombers approximately eleven months ago would be excavated and destroyed. According to Trump, the effort would be conducted “in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

Trump added that he believes only the United States and China possess the technical capabilities necessary to carry out such an operation.

On financial matters, the president drew a firm line, writing: “No money will be exchanged, until further notice.”

Even as negotiations appear to be advancing, Iranian officials projected a more confrontational posture Friday.

A social media account attributed to Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf suggested that Tehran views military leverage as central to any diplomatic outcome.

“We seize concessions not through dialogue, but with missiles; in negotiations, we merely make them understand,” the post read.

The message continued: “The winner of any agreement is the one who is better prepared for war from the day after.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi separately announced that he had spoken with his Omani counterpart and expressed support for Oman amid growing tensions with Washington, noted CNBC.

Oman has become an increasingly important player in the dispute. The country has reportedly held discussions with Iran regarding the possibility of charging tolls on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which has been largely closed to normal commercial traffic since the conflict began.

During a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, Trump warned that Oman would “have to” face consequences if it moved forward with policies opposed by Washington. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reinforced that message Thursday, cautioning that the United States would pursue aggressive measures against any party involved in collecting tolls on ships using the waterway.

The conflict between the United States and Iran, now entering its third month, has kept energy markets on edge and heightened concerns about disruptions to global oil supplies. With the Strait of Hormuz remaining at the center of the dispute, attention is now focused on Friday’s Situation Room meeting and whether it will produce a breakthrough in negotiations or further escalation between the two countries.
