Kai Trump is giving followers a glimpse into her first days of college life, from an emotional farewell at home to her debut with the University of Miami golf team—and an early bout with strep throat.
The 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump documented the transition in a new YouTube vlog that follows her final days in Jupiter, Florida, and her first week as a freshman student-athlete in Miami, writes Fox News.
The video begins on the day before her move, when a round of golf was followed by a tearful ride home. Kai told viewers that saying goodbye to family and friends had left her emotional, despite not ordinarily thinking of herself that way. She said she was nevertheless looking forward to the next chapter.
After Kai arrived in Miami, her best friend, Emma, helped her settle into her new apartment. That included a grocery run for frozen meals after Emma noticed that Kai had barely eaten during the move.
“I haven’t eaten in like three days,” Kai said in the video.
The vlog also chronicles Kai’s introduction to life as a college athlete. She appeared visibly exhausted after a 7 a.m. team meeting, showed viewers the official Miami clothing and golf equipment she received, and shared footage from her first practice with the team.
Her first week took an unpleasant turn when she contracted strep throat. Kai returned to Jupiter so her mother could care for her while she recovered, then headed back to campus.
Kai is the elder daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump. The video was released the same week Vanessa was photographed with golfer Tiger Woods, who appeared in a Florida courtroom for a plea hearing related to a DUI charge stemming from a March rollover crash.
