A recent YouGov poll has now reportedly revealed that a majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump will attempt to run for a third term in office.
The survey shows that 56% of respondents think Trump will either “definitely” or “probably” seek the presidency again, significantly outpacing the 28% who believe he will not pursue a 2028 bid.
An additional 15% remain uncertain.
Discussion around a possible third term has intensified, particularly following Trump’s remarks during an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker.
He suggested there are various “methods” to facilitate a third run, including hypothetical scenarios involving Vice President JD Vance running for president, resigning, and handing off the position to Trump if victorious.
Trump confirmed to Welker, “That’s one [scenario], but there are others too.”
While the 22nd Amendment limits individuals to two elected terms as president, discussions around unconventional methods of navigating this rule have circulated among Trump supporters, including influential allies like Steve Bannon.
Earlier, Trump had indicated he did not foresee a 2028 run when speaking to journalist Sharyl Attkisson. However, his recent comments suggest he is more open to the idea now.
He stated, “You know, a lot of people would like me to do that,” while also cautioning that it is still early in the current administration.
As Trump garners significant backing among his supporters, the prospect of a third term continues to capture public interest, with the recent poll reflecting a notable amount of confidence in his potential bid.
This growing speculation surrounding Trump’s political future underscores the enduring influence he maintains within the Republican Party and American politics at large.
