The first trial for a co-defendant of US President Donald Trump accused of meddling in the state’s 2020 election was reportedly set to start on October 23 by a Georgia judge on Thursday.
Kenneth Chesebro, a co-defendant, requested a quick trial in the Atlanta case on Wednesday.
In response, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asked the court to set the trial date for Trump, Chesebro, and the other 17 defendants for October 23.
However, Chesebro, an attorney, is the sole co-defendant of Trump who will go on trial beginning that day as a result of the new ruling made on Thursday by Judge Scott McAfee in Fulton County Superior Court.

Chesebro is accused of violating the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, conspiring to impersonate a public official, two counts of first-degree forgery, two counts of making false statements and writings, and conspiracy to file false documents, among other felony offenses.
The Chesebro case must go to trial very soon, according to McAfee’s order.
On August 14, less than two weeks earlier, a grand jury indicted Chesebro, Trump, and the other defendants.
