Tuesday night, after turning himself in to authorities in Miami and pleading not guilty to 37 felony counts, former President Donald Trump officially responded to his legal troubles at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, stating that he is “the only one” who can save the United States.
He claimed that he is “the only one” who can restore America.
The comments were made after Trump appeared before federal Magistrate Judge Jonathan Goodman in the Southern District of Florida and entered a not-guilty plea to 37 felony charges related to his alleged retention of national defense information, his alleged attempts to obstruct the investigation, and his alleged lying to prosecutors in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe.
Trump insisted repeatedly that the charges against him were unjustified and that the problem relates to the Presidential Records Act.
The former president brought out further instances of wrongdoing and perhaps illegal behavior by other politicians who went unpunished, such as President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former President Bill Clinton.
Trump targeted Biden specifically because of the investigation into his possession of sensitive information and claims that, while serving as vice president in the Obama administration, he accepted a $5 million bribe from a Ukrainian executive.
The former president concentrated on juxtaposing his policy accomplishments with the shortcomings of the Biden administration toward the end of his address.
In addition he also repeatedly attacked special prosecutor Jack Smith, referring to him as a “deranged lunatic.”
Trump concluded by vowing to appoint a special prosecutor, assuming he is reelected in 2024, to investigate the Biden family’s alleged corruption:
“I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America, Joe Biden, and the entire Biden crime family, name a special prosecutor, and all others involved with the destruction of our elections, our borders, and our country itself. They’re destroying our country. And when I’m re-elected, and we will get re-elected, we have no choice, we’re not going to have a country anymore. I will totally obliterate the deep state, we will obliterate the deep state.” Trump vowed.
