President Donald Trump said Sunday that he won the Senior Division of the Bedminster Club Championship after shooting a 2-under-par 70 at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.
The victory, which Trump described as his 40th club championship, came on the club’s Tom Fazio-designed Old Course, a par-72 layout that can stretch to approximately 7,560 yards from the back tees, noted Fox News.
Trump celebrated the result in a Truth Social post accompanied by footage of what he called the winning shot.
“The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
The Bedminster property includes two 18-hole courses built on land that was once part of automobile executive John DeLorean’s estate. The Old Course, designed by Fazio and opened in 2004, has hosted the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open, the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur and several LIV Golf events.
The course is known for its length, elevated tees, large bunkers, contoured greens and water hazards that come into play throughout the layout. Its combination of forced carries, strategic angles and difficult approach shots can make scoring challenging, particularly from the longer tees.
A second course, designed by Tom Fazio II, opened in 2008.
Trump has frequently promoted his golf ability and has claimed numerous club championships at properties he owns. His Sunday round came amid continued public scrutiny of his age, health and physical stamina, issues that have remained part of the broader political debate surrounding his presidency.
