President Donald Trump is pressing congressional Republicans to move swiftly on a massive new reconciliation package that would significantly expand military spending while reviving a long-running effort to overhaul federal election rules.
In a lengthy Truth Social post Wednesday night, Trump called on GOP lawmakers to immediately advance what he described as “Recon 3.0,” a proposed $350 billion package that he argued is essential to strengthening both national security and election integrity.
“I am hereby calling on Republicans in Congress to IMMEDIATELY advance and pass the forthcoming $350 Billion Reconciliation Bill (Recon 3.0) — which, at the request of our Great Department of War — will include THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as well,” Trump wrote.
The president left little room for hesitation, urging lawmakers to avoid delays and internal disputes.
“No games, no delays, and no weak compromises! Do this ASAP,” he added.
According to Trump, the legislation would serve as the foundation for what he described as an unprecedented buildup of American military capabilities. He argued the package would be the only path toward reaching a $1.5 trillion military budget and outlined a range of projects that would receive funding under the proposal.
Among the initiatives highlighted by the president were the “Golden Dome” missile defense system, a planned “Golden Fleet” of naval vessels, the F-47 and B-21 aircraft programs, expanded ammunition manufacturing, increased investment in the Space Force, and additional drone capabilities.
Trump portrayed the proposal as a historic undertaking, comparing it favorably to the military buildup associated with President Ronald Reagan.
“This is a GENERATIONAL Investment in our Military, even bigger than President Reagan’s!” he wrote.
The proposal represents what would be the third major reconciliation effort undertaken by Republicans during the current Congress. Previous reconciliation packages included a tax-focused measure passed last year and an immigration enforcement bill that Trump signed earlier Wednesday.
While much of the president’s message focused on defense spending, he also emphasized the inclusion of the SAVE America Act, legislation aimed at changing federal voting requirements.
Trump said the measure would require photo identification and proof of citizenship for voting while placing restrictions on mail-in ballots. He argued that election security should be viewed as a core national priority and linked the proposal directly to broader concerns about protecting constitutional rights.
According to the president, the legislation would “protect our Elections for Generations to come.”
“Our Warriors protect our most Sacred Rights, and Voting is at the top. Time to defend that Right for every American!” Trump wrote.
The SAVE America Act has faced significant challenges in the Senate and has repeatedly fallen short of securing enough support to advance. Nevertheless, Trump insisted that the measure remain part of the broader reconciliation package despite the political obstacles it has encountered.
The president framed the legislation as a comprehensive effort to address two issues he views as fundamental to the country’s future: military preparedness and election security.
At the same time, the proposal underscores the growing emphasis being placed on defense spending as lawmakers debate national priorities. While supporters argue that strengthening military capabilities is necessary in an increasingly uncertain world, the scale of the proposed investment reflects how central defense policy has become to the current political debate.
Trump concluded his appeal with a direct message to congressional Republicans, urging them to unite behind the package and move it forward without delay.
“Pass ALL $350 BILLION and THE SAVE AMERICA ACT to secure the NATION for our children and grandchildren,” the president wrote.
