President Donald Trump renewed his call for congressional Republicans to make his proposed “Reconciliation 3.0” budget package their top legislative priority when lawmakers return to Washington, arguing the measure would strengthen the U.S. military while advancing his proposed SAVE AMERICA ACT.
Trump issued the appeal Tuesday in a post on Truth Social just hours after departing the United States for Turkey, where he is scheduled to participate in a two-day NATO summit.
The president began by praising the current state of the U.S. military, pointing to what he described as record recruiting numbers and high morale.
“The United States Military has never been stronger, or more powerful. No other Nation can do what we do (It’s not even close!). This year we set even more Historic Recruiting Records, months ahead of schedule. Morale has never been higher,” Trump wrote.
He also referenced the recent celebration marking 250 years of American independence, saying the military’s capabilities were on full display during the event.
“Our Military’s unmatched POWER was on full display during our Celebration of 250 Years of American Independence and, like our Country, the WAR DEPARTMENT has never been ‘HOTTER,’” Trump wrote.
The president argued that Congress should act quickly to preserve that momentum by approving additional defense funding through his reconciliation proposal.
“We need to keep it that way,” Trump said before urging lawmakers to move forward with “Reconciliation 3.0.”
Trump specifically called on Republican leaders in both chambers to make the package their highest priority once Congress reconvenes.
“I am calling on House and Senate Leadership to make this their Number One Priority, and ensure that 350 Billion Dollars in Recon 3.0 moves out of the Budget Committee as soon as Congress is back in session,” he wrote.
In addition to defense spending, Trump again pushed for provisions from his proposed SAVE AMERICA ACT to be included in the legislation. The president specifically argued for voter identification requirements to be folded into the broader package, saying the combined proposal could move through Congress quickly.
“The SAVE AMERICA ACT, which everyone is asking for, paired with the full funding of our Great Department of War, can be passed very quickly, ensuring that the United States of America stays FREE for Generations to come,” Trump wrote.
The renewed push comes as Republicans continue to face internal disagreements over the proposed legislation.
Before Congress recessed in June, House Republicans remained divided over the package despite weeks of efforts by GOP leadership to build support. Republican leaders have argued that the reconciliation measure represents the party’s best opportunity to advance elements of Trump’s SAVE AMERICA ACT along with other conservative priorities.
However, fiscal conservatives have maintained they will not support a budget resolution unless it is completely offset through spending reductions.
Other Republicans have also expressed concerns about the proposal’s broader provisions, including the inclusion of $350 billion in defense funding.
Those disagreements have complicated efforts to advance the legislation and have raised questions about whether House Republican leaders can unite enough members behind a final proposal.
Despite Speaker Mike Johnson’s insistence that Republicans can eventually reach an agreement, lawmakers have acknowledged that no final framework has yet been reached.
Trump’s latest message places renewed pressure on congressional leadership as lawmakers prepare to return to Washington following the recess. By emphasizing both increased defense spending and the inclusion of the SAVE AMERICA ACT, the president is urging Republicans to coalesce around what he described as a package aimed at preserving U.S. military strength and ensuring the country remains “FREE for Generations to come.”
