President Donald Trump has reportedly now reiterated his controversial proposal to absorb Canada as the 51st state, claiming that this addition would create “the most beautiful landmass in the world.”

During a recent press briefing at the White House, Trump characterized Canada as a “nasty negotiator,” accusing it of taking advantage of the United States in trade deals for an extended period.

In response to a question from Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy about the potential implications of Canada becoming a state, Trump acknowledged that it could result in Canada being a “very big and very, very blue” state politically.

However, he remained adamant about the benefits of annexation, dismissing concerns over the political landscape by emphasizing the artificial nature of the border between the two countries.

“Look at that artificial line,” Trump remarked, referring to the U.S.-Canada border. He expressed a vision where the border would be redrawn to include Canada, which he described as a stunning landmass.

He further insisted that Canada has historically imposed high tariffs on U.S. products, reinforcing his view that the U.S. has been taken advantage of in trade negotiations.

Trump has been vocal about his plans since taking office, even stating in a Truth Social post that hockey legend Wayne Gretzky would have a say in the annexation process.

In a previous interview, Trump further asserted his belief that Canada was “meant to be” part of the U.S. and downplayed the American reliance on Canadian exports like lumber and automotive goods.

As the discussion around this proposal continues, Trump’s remarks demonstrate his steadfastness in advocating for an expansive vision of American territory.
