During a Sunday interview, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) reportedly asserted that former Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) prevented Republicans from being informed about terrorist threats to the United States last year, citing concerns that the information could leak and adversely affect Vice President Kamala Harris during the elections.
Britt made the comments during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” when questioned about the topic that Republicans consistently raised with Schumer last year.
The subject arises two weeks subsequent to a terrorist incident in which over a dozen individuals were slain in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.
Britt expressed significant apprehension on the possibility of future terrorist attacks in the United States.
“When you rewind to where this came from, in my opinion, this is a direct result of Biden’s failed policies across the world. When you look at the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, we know that that created a vacuum. It created a vacuum that allowed ISIS-K to continue to flourish.” Britt said.
“Our conversations surrounding that and our request of Senator Schumer was, make sure that we understand this, so that we can do everything that we need to. This is also right after Director Wray said that he saw blinking lights everywhere he turned.” she continued.
“When you take the combination of these things, this is something we have to take seriously. We cannot allow these things to happen on American soil. Getting answers and understanding how we equipped our law enforcement, our FBI and others the tools they need to combat this is critically important. We’re going to keep pushing.” Britt added.
