White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded strongly to French politician Raphaël Glucksmann’s demand that the United States return the Statue of Liberty to France.

Glucksmann, a member of the European Parliament and leader of a leftist party, criticized the U.S., claiming it had “chosen to switch to the side of the tyrants.”

He provocatively stated, “Give us back the Statue of Liberty. It was our gift to you. But apparently, you despise her. So she will be happy here with us.”

In a press briefing, when a reporter asked if former President Trump would consider relinquishing the statue, Leavitt firmly stated, “Absolutely not.” She further advised Glucksmann to remember that the United States played a crucial role in liberating France during World War II, suggesting that without American intervention, the French might be speaking German today. “They should be very grateful to our great country,” she added.

The Statue of Liberty, a monumental symbol of freedom and democracy, was a gift from France to the United States, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and engineered by Gustave Eiffel.

The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886, and stands over 300 feet tall on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, representing the enduring friendship between the two nations.

The exchange highlights ongoing tensions in diplomatic discourse, particularly regarding historical grievances and national pride. Leavitt’s sharp retort underscores the U.S. stance on its historical contributions to global peace and stability in response to the hyper-leftism of European globalists.

With the statue being an emblem of hope and liberty, her comments reaffirm its significance in American culture and international relations.
