As polling has made Kamala Harris become more desperate against former President Donald Trump, the vice president has spent the past few days embarrassing herself. Along with using the tragedy of Thurman’s death to promote her campaign, the vice president has been criticized for trying to inject herself into the response to Hurricane Winston.
Harris tried to make a political issue of Governor Ron DeSantis ignoring her calls as he prepared for the storm, but immediately faced pushback not only from the governor, but from Joe Biden himself.
After being asked about the controversy, DeSantis told Fox News, “If I honestly thought there was something to be gained, I would pick up the phone and call her. The fact of the matter is she has no role in this process. She’s not part of the chain of command. I am working with President Biden, FEMA, state and local partners, and we’re getting the job done. She has never been interested in any of the storms we’ve had in the state of Florida her entire time as Vice President. Now she’s out there attacking me because I’m not cading to her whims? All she’s trying to do is inject herself to be a part of her political campaign. I don’t have time for political games. I’ve got a job to do, we’ve got people’s lives on the line, and that is our sole focus.”

Joe Biden agreed. When he was asked by a reporter if Gov. DeSantis needs to take VP Harris’ calls on hurricanes, Biden responded by saying, “All I can tell you is I’ve talked to Gov. DeSantis. He’s been very gracious. He’s thanked me for all we’ve done. He knows what we’re doing and I think that’s important.”

Harris also tried to put herself in a FEMA discussion about the response, but was caught with staff feeding her questions to make it seem like she knew what she was talking about before rambling about “words mattering.”

With so many people ignoring her because she’s not in the chain of command during a national emergency, Harris eventually called The Weather Channel so she could explain to them what a hurricane is.

She also used the call with The Weather Channel to pretend that price gouging was happening in Florida to push her much-criticized policies to add price controls to groceries under the premise that inflation is “price gouging.”

When she finally did find a supporter in Florida who would take her call, she used the opportunity to make a campaign video, not help people.
Note she’s not using these videos or posts to push information that can help people, no hotlines, locations, donation centers, etc. The sole purpose is to make herself look good. https://t.co/hV4DrSq9Hg

The winds from Hurricane Milton were so bad that the roof of Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays that was being used as a shelter for first responders, tore off.

The Harris campaign has not yet announced whether they will be calling into the MLB Network so that she can explain the rules of baseball.
