Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia reportedly fainted during a press conference on May 7, 2025, while speaking alongside Governor Ron DeSantis.

The event focused on environmental legislation, and as Garcia began to feel unwell, she told DeSantis, “Governor, forgive me, I’ve gotta sit down because I am not feeling well.”

Moments after her statement, Garcia slumped over, but Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo was quick to react, catching her before she fell.

He reassured her, saying, “We got you.” Other officials quickly brought a chair for Garcia and offered her water.

After a brief pause, Garcia managed to stand again, receiving a round of applause from the audience. She humorously resumed her speech, saying, “Are you kidding? This was my moment,” eliciting laughter from attendees.

She thanked DeSantis for his support during the incident, acknowledging the nervousness of the situation but maintaining a light-hearted demeanor.

The incident highlighted the supportive atmosphere at the press conference, with officials promptly attending to Garcia’s needs.

Garcia’s fainting spell and subsequent recovery became a focal point at the event, the harrowing episode serving as a reminder of the pressures public officials face, especially during high-stakes events.
