Over the past four years, the Department of Justice has seen a disturbing increase in the weaponization of its power against enemies, often under the rubric of “DEI.” With Trump coming back into power, however, that jig is up.
The Washington Examiner reports that The Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division is ” poised to fight ‘woke agenda’.” According to the outlet, conservative attorney Harmeet Dhillon will serve as the tip of the president’s spear.
The DOJ Civil Rights Division is likely to change its approach to diversity, voting, abortion, and transgender topics under Dhillon, who has a dense track record of pushing Republican causes in these areas.
The division is poised to make one of its top priorities rooting out race-conscious policies across industries. Trump hinted as much when he announced Dhillon’s nomination, praising her for “suing corporations who use woke policies to discriminate against their workers.”
Dhillon recently signaled she was on board by sharing an op-ed by her law firm partner that denounced diversity, equity, and inclusion as “divisive” and dead on arrival in the Trump administration.
DEI is a framework used by companies and in academia to elevate minorities. Proponents say it helps vulnerable populations achieve equal status in society, while opponents say it has unforgivable adverse effects, such as discounting a person’s merit and discriminating against majority demographics.
Another area likely to see changes is the enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which protects access to abortion clinics and churches but has mostly been used by Biden to attack pro-life activists.
In April, a whistleblower at the FBI revealed that the current administration revealed that the Biden administration viewed pro-lifers as a threat to the United States.
New Conservative Post wrote, “Whether they attempted to spy on traditional Catholics who prefer Latin Mass or sent SWAT teams to kick down the doors of pro-life activists and censor Americans, it’s become clear that the FBI has become captured by leftwing radicals who struggle to discern political disagreement with violence.
Now, an insider at the Bureau claims that the FBI believes pro-lifers are more dangerous than radical Islam. To justify its actions against social conservatives, the DOJ relies on the left’s favorite smear machine: The Southern Poverty Law Center.”
With a steadfast defender of constitutional principles like Dhillon taking over, expect that to change soon.
