On Monday, former President Trump reportedly received the support of West Virginia Governor Jim Justice (a Republican) for the party’s 2024 presidential candidacy.
“The leadership and success exhibited by President Trump could not be more different than what we see today under Joe Biden. I support President Trump and firmly believe he will be our nominee and be re-elected as our next President,” Justice wrote in a tweet.
Justice, a two-term governor, is running for Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) seat in the Senate.
Early polling indicates that he would likely defeat Manchin in a matchup between the two.

Rep. Alex Mooney (R) of West Virginia is also vying for the state’s GOP Senate nomination.
Justice is the most recent of numerous Republican government figures to endorse Trump for the GOP presidential nomination.
Gov. Henry McMaster of South Carolina, over a dozen senators, and more than 60 reps have all endorsed the former president.
Trump has continued to retain a sizable lead over his several rivals in polls of the Republican race.
