According to a source within the court system, the office of the Manhattan District Attorney has reportedly requested a meeting with law enforcement in advance of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump to be filed the following week.
The source claims that a request for the meeting was made on Thursday, but that it has not yet been scheduled.
The spokesperson for Trump, Steven Cheung, responded to the news by issuing a statement in which he criticized the district attorney, Alvin Bragg.
“President Donald J. Trump is completely innocent, he did nothing wrong, and even the biggest, most Radical Left Democrats are making that clear. From Russia, Russia, Russia, to the Mueller Hoax, to Impeachment Hoaxes 1 and 2, and even the Unlawful Mar-a-Lago Raid, Democrats have investigated and attacked President Trump since before he was elected – and they’ve failed every time.” Cheung said.
“Now Democrats are at it again, pushing the ‘Nuclear Button’ and attacking a President because of a disgraced extortionist. This is happening because President Trump is leading in the polls by a large margin against both Democrats and Republicans, and there’s never been anything so blatant in American political history.” he continued.
An indictment may be forthcoming as a result of the years-long investigation into the alleged payment of hush money by Donald Trump to cover up his affair with porn star Stormy Daniels.
Michael Cohen, who was Trump’s lawyer at the time, wired $130,000 to Stormy Daniels at the end of the 2016 presidential campaign in an effort to dissuade Daniels from speaking publicly about her affair with Trump in 2006.
Cohen was allegedly compensated by Trump in many separate payments.
Trump has denied knowing about the payments.
Trump posted to social media platform that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday.
“The far & away leading republican candidate & former President of The United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week,” Trump said.
The former President made a call for his supporters to take action.
“Protest, take our nation back,” he urged his supporters in response to a potential arrest.
