Joe Rogan said Thursday that he is increasingly “leaning towards” theories pushed by Candace Owens surrounding the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, questioning whether the full story about the man charged with Kirk’s murder has been accurately presented.
Rogan made the comments during Thursday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” while speaking with comedians Shane Gillis, Mark Normand and Ari Shaffir.
“The more time goes on, the more I’m leaning towards Candace Owens,” Rogan said. “She’s got some very interesting theories.”
Kirk was killed last September after being shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Tyler Robinson was ultimately charged with Kirk’s murder after confessing to his father.
Owens, who was a longtime friend of Kirk, has repeatedly questioned the case against Robinson and promoted conspiracy theories surrounding Kirk’s assassination. Her theories have implicated a broad range of potential actors, including Israel, Egypt, the U.S. military and even Turning Point USA.
Rogan told his guests that he is skeptical of news reports in general and suggested there is more to the Robinson story than what has been publicly presented.
“I don’t think any story that you hear in the news is accurate,” Rogan said. “There’s always some spin.”
Rogan went on to say that he believes there is “some bullsh*t” surrounding the narrative involving Robinson, although he acknowledged that he does not know how much of it is inaccurate.
The podcast host then pointed to photographs that he said had recently raised questions.
According to Rogan, a photo purportedly showing Robinson drew scrutiny because people noticed that the proportions of vehicles visible in the background appeared distorted.
Rogan said Robinson is “real thin,” but claimed the photograph appeared to have been altered from an image of a wider individual.
“And then they realized that what they had done was taken a guy who was, like, much wider than Tyler Robinson and shrunken the perspective,” Rogan said.
Rogan appeared to be referencing images highlighted by Owens one day earlier.
Owens released a YouTube video Wednesday titled, “They Hid These Images Of ‘Tyler Robinson’ From You.”
In the description accompanying the video, Owens characterized the pictures as “exclusive stills” and questioned why authorities had not released them sooner.
She claimed they were images that “the state was so slow to show.”
Rogan did not say during the discussion that he had fully embraced Owens’ various theories about Kirk’s assassination. Instead, he said the passage of time had left him increasingly inclined to consider her claims.
His comments marked another high-profile expression of skepticism surrounding the circumstances of Kirk’s killing, as Owens continues publicly challenging the case against Robinson and raising questions about the official account of the assassination.
