President Donald Trump is scheduled to undergo his annual medical and dental examinations at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center later this month, the White House announced Monday.
The visit is set for May 26 and will be Trump’s fourth medical evaluation since returning to the White House. The president, who turns 80 on June 14, is also expected to meet with service members during the trip to the Bethesda, Maryland, facility.
Trump’s health has remained a subject of public scrutiny as he serves as the oldest elected president in American history. He has repeatedly dismissed questions about his age and fitness for office.
At a White House event on May 4, Trump said, “I feel the same as I felt 50 years ago. I’m not a senior. I’m far younger than a senior.”
The following day, he joked about his daily exercise routine, saying, “I work out so much. Like, about one minute a day, max. If I’m lucky.”
During Trump’s first routine physical of his second term in April 2025, the White House physician described his overall health as “excellent” and said he was “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief.
Later examinations drew additional attention. In July 2025, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after visible swelling appeared in his lower legs. In October 2025, the White House described another visit as a “semi-annual physical,” during which Trump underwent imaging that his doctor called “preventative” and said produced “perfectly normal” results.
Questions have also persisted over bruising on Trump’s hands, which observers have noted for months. Trump has attributed the discoloration to daily high doses of aspirin used for blood thinning, saying the medication causes him to bruise easily and that he uses makeup to conceal it.
Democrats have consistently pushed rumors that the president’s health is failing and in April some argued that Trump had actually died.
Despite the scrutiny, Trump has maintained a heavy public schedule. He is preparing to travel to China on May 12 for talks with President Xi Jinping. Cameras have occasionally shown him closing his eyes during events, which Trump has described as a way of relaxing rather than evidence of fatigue.
The White House said additional details about the May 26 Walter Reed visit will be released later.
