According to a new story from Oliver Darcy, employees at The Washington Post are getting ready for a wave of layoffs that could transform the future of the company.

The cuts are scheduled to be revealed this week, and they are likely to start immediately.

The Darcy’s Status newsletter published an article on Sunday stating that a source stated that the layoffs will be concentrated on the “business division” of the newspaper and will have an effect on “dozens of employees.”

After the newspaper, which is owned by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, recently lost a number of prominent names, including managing editor Matea Gold, Ashley Parker, Michael Scherer, Charles Lane, Tyler Pager, and Amanda Katz – several of whom were poached by The Atlantic – these anticipated layoffs are the result of an exodus of prominent talent.

Darcy was the one who broke the news that reporter Josh Dawsey was going to quit The Post to join the Wall Street Journal. The news also comes shortly after Darcy broke the story.

“Those financial problems were exacerbated when Bezos blocked The Post’s planned endorsement of Kamala Harris ahead of the November election, a move that led to more than 250,000 readers canceling their subscriptions,” Darcy claimed.

When it comes to finances, The Post has had better times in the past, which is one of the reasons for its troubles. Those who are aware with the discussions that take place within the company have stated that the senior management has not kept these problems a secret.
