On Thursday, Meta admitted that it has contributed one million dollars to the inaugural fund of President-elect Donald Trump who was elected.
In what was widely interpreted as an attempt to woo the president-elect as he prepares to return to the White House, CEO Mark Zuckerberg paid a visit to President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
The gift that has been revealed comes just a few weeks after that meeting reportedly took place.
Because of the rebellion that took place in the Capitol on January 6, Facebook prohibited former President Trump from using the network.
This led to a relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump that was fairly problematic.
The previous president of the United States referred to Facebook as a “enemy of the people” at one point.
After the reinstatement of Trump’s account in 2023, the president-elect has altered his mind on Zuckerberg. In October, he claimed that he likes the tech leader “much better now.”
The chief executive officer of Meta did not support any particular candidate in the presidential election of 2024; nevertheless, he did occasionally discuss politics when he was on the campaign trail.
In July of last year, he referred to President Trump as a “badass” for his swift response after being shot in an attempt on his life.
Additionally, during the election, Meta’s platforms attempted to steer clear of anything that was political in nature.
Instagram announced earlier this year that it would no longer recommend political content unless users would manually modify their settings.
Especially in light of the fact that tech billionaire Elon Musk, who owns the social platform X, SpaceX, and Tesla, is becoming increasingly active in Trump’s inner orbit, Zuckerberg is among the different tech executives who are now attempting to patch bridges with the incoming Republican candidate for president of the United States.
