A new survey indicated that the number of Republican women who possess firearms has increased over the past few years.
The percentage of Republican women who own a gun has now increased from 19 percent in 2007-12 to 33 percent in 2019-24, as per Gallup’s annual measurement of gun ownership across the country.
Gallup’s annual study of gun ownership across the country reveals that the number of Republican women who own a gun has climbed from 19 percent in 2007-12 to 33 percent in 2019-24.
This represents a significant increase over the previous year’s figure of 19 percent.
During the same time span, the rate has decreased among males who identify as Democratic and men who identify as independent.
Among men who identify as Democratic, however, the rate has decreased by seven percentage points, reaching 29 percent.
It dropped by five percentage points, reaching 39 percent among men who were independent.
According to Gallup’s findings, Republican men continue to be the most likely group across the country to own guns, regardless of gender or party identity.
Sixty percent of Republican men have stated that they own a firearm.
It was found that the rate increased by two percentage points among women who were independent, whereas it decreased by one percentage point among women who were Democratic.
According to Gallup, the company began combining data in 2007, and it presented its findings for the first time in 2013.
In spite of the fact that there are now more women than ever before purchasing firearms, the gap between political parties has grown.
According to the report, this is most likely owing to the party linkages that are associated with firearms, which are becoming an increasingly politicized topic both at home and on the campaign trail.
There was a 16-point gap between the rates of personal gun ownership among Republicans and Democrats for the period of 2007-2012.
As of right now, that deficit is 28 points.
According to the most current study, over fifty percent of respondents who claim to live in rural areas own a gun, whereas just twenty percent of respondents who live in urban areas do so.
The results of the survey are a compilation of data from 2019 to 2024, collected from random samples of approximately one thousand persons.
A margin of error of one percentage point is associated with the findings that are derived from the combined sample of 6,425 persons.
