Former President Donald Trump got a major boost to his campaign over the weekend while holding a rally in the swing state of Arizona.
The Washington Times reported that those guarding the border have thrown their support behind the only candidate who will likely secure it.
Paul Perez, president of the union representing 16,000 Border Patrol agents, said the former president has been a true ally.
“America, I have a message for you: If we allow ‘Border Czar’ Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country is going to go to hell,” Mr. Perez said, lamenting that millions of unvetted migrants who have entered the country illegally under the Biden-Harris administration.
“Only one man can fix that. That is Donald J. Trump,” he said.
“He has always stood with the men and women who protect this border, who put their lives on the line for the country,” he said.
According to polling, illegal immigration has been one of the top issues for over a year. In June, a study revealed that half of the jobs created under “Bidenomics” went to an undocumented worker rather than an American citizen.
At the rally, Mr. Trump announced that his administration would hire 10,000 additional border agents, grant them a 10 percent pay raises, and offer a $10,000 “retention and signing bonus.
“They deserve it,” he said. “They’ve been treated incredibly unfairly.”
Matt Corridoni, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, complained about the endorsement and pretended that Democrats care about border security, saying, “Trump told us Mexico would pay for his failed border wall. That was a lie. Then he made taxpayers pay for his failed border wall.
Trump doesn’t care about solving problems; he only wants to run on one. That’s why he killed the bipartisan border bill that would’ve secured the border, despite the fact that it was endorsed by the Border Patrol.
There’s only one candidate focused on tackling issues for the American people, has taken on transnational gangs, and is focused on keeping our communities safe—Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Democrats have been desperate to downplay Kamala Harris’ role as Joe Biden’s “border czar” in which she saw nearly 10 million undocumented migrants enter the country.
