According to a new poll of the voting cohort, former President Trump is currently leading Vice President Harris among veterans, active service members, and their families.
In a survey conducted by Change Research, it was discovered that Trump is currently leading Harris by 51 percent to 41 percent among veterans and 49 percent to 44 percent among active duty, guardsmen, and reservists.
The margin was narrower among family members of veterans, with Trump surpassing Harris by 47% to 45%.
Pollsters observed that the support for Trump among veterans, active-duty members, and their family members has slightly decreased since the 2016 election, resulting in a minimum of nine points of decrease in the former president’s margins among each of these categories.
In 2016, Trump secured a 19-point advantage over veterans; however, his advantage among active service members has decreased from 19 points to 5 points, and his lead among family members has decreased from 12 points to 2 points.
Currently, he maintains a 10-point advantage.
According to a survey of individuals who have voted for Trump at least once but do not intend to do so this November, 53% of them attributed their decision to his policies, attitudes, and remarks regarding veterans and service members.
Over the years, Trump has consistently garnered the backing of veterans, who frequently vote in favor of Republicans.
Simultaneously, the former president has faced criticism from this voting cohort on numerous occasions since his initial White House campaign.
The Change Research poll was conducted from August 23 to 29 among 1,703 veterans, active-duty service members, and family/household members of veterans and service members across the country. The margin of error is 2.5 percentage points.
