The leadership of his transition team, which will oversee policy and personnel initiatives in anticipation of his prospective return to the White House, was revealed by former President Trump on Friday.
The official transition of Trump will be overseen by two prominent donors to his campaign: Linda McMahon, who previously served as the head of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term, and Howard Lutnick, the head of the financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald.
McMahon and Lutnick will serve as co-chairs, Trump announced in a press release.
“The 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again is a forward-looking agenda that will deliver safety, prosperity and freedom for the American people. My administration will deliver on these bold promises. We will restore strength, competence and common sense to the Oval Office. I have absolute confidence the Trump-Vance Administration will be ready to govern effectively on Day One.” Trump announced in a new statement.
Additionally, his elder sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, will serve as honorary chairs, as will his running companion, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio).
Presidential campaigns typically establish a transition team in advance of Election Day to prepare for the potential assumption of office in the event of a victory.
A fundraiser for Trump was sponsored by Lutnick in the Hamptons earlier this month.
McMahon, who assisted in the establishment of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., has served as the director of the America First Policy Institute, a think tank that advocates for Donald Trump.
Donald Trump Jr. has expressed his intention to participate in the selection of individuals to serve in a second administration for his father.
He stated at the Republican National Convention last month that he desired the ability to “veto” candidates he did not trust to be in a potential second Trump administration.
