In response to one of CNN’s moderators questioning his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), former President Donald Trump’s running mate, fired back at the notoriously liberal network.
Vance may be a “imperfect messenger” to criticize Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who this week joined Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 ticket, over his military record, according to CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Thursday.
The critique concentrated on Vance’s role as a combat correspondent during the Iraq War, which Keiler argued created the deceptive impression that he witnessed combat.
“Brianna this is disgusting, and you and your entire network should be ashamed of yourselves. When I got the call to go to Iraq, I went. Tim Walz said he carried a gun in a war. Did he? No. It was a lie.” Vance hit back on X.

Walz served in the Army National Guard for more than twenty years.
He had been deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom following the September 11 attacks, but not in a combat zone.
Walz retired in 2005 and sought election to the United States Congress before his unit was deployed to Iraq.
