The much anticipated announcement by former President Donald Trump regarding his choice for vice president is expected to take place this week, according to senior adviser Jason Miller’s statement on Monday.
“By this time next Monday, we will know who President Trump has selected as his running mate for the 2024 election,” Miller remarked during a recent appearance on Fox News.
“It could happen any time this week. Could happen literally right up until the first day of the convention,” he continued.
Then, in response to calls for Joe Biden to drop out of the lead position after the president’s debate performance, he ventured into conjecture that the Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden might not be the winning ticket in November.
Although Miller would not reveal specifics on Trump’s shortlist of possible vice presidential candidates, he did assert that the former president has talked to other candidates besides Sens. Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance and Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota about running mates.
Ahead of his debate with Biden, last month, Trump declared he had already chosen his running mate “in [his] mind” while out campaigning in Philadelphia.
Trump has long stated that he intended to make his announcement at the RNC in Milwaukee the following week, or just before.
