President-elect Donald Trump reportedly declared on Sunday that his new administration would be operational within hours of his inauguration.

It appears that the Federal Communications Commission, is already taking this directive 1uite seriously.

Brendan Carr, the current FCC commissioner, sent a letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger in which he stated that he intended to impose accountability on news networks, including Disney-owned ABC News, during his tenure as chairman.

Carr observed in the letter that the American populace has largely lost faith in the national media, despite the fact that the majority of Americans continue to hold more favorable opinions of their local media venues, as indicated by polling data.

“Dear Mr. Iger, Americans no longer trust the national news media to report fully, accurately, and fairly,” Carr wrote in the letter.

“ABC’s own conduct has certainly contributed to this erosion in public trust. For instance, ABC News recently agreed to pay $15 million to President Trump’s future presidential foundation and museum and an additional $1 million in attorney fees to settle a defamation case,” he added.

The defamation case was initiated by a March broadcast of the network’s flagship Sunday morning program, “This Week,” during which veteran anchor George Stephanopoulos stated on numerous occasions that Trump had been “found liable for rape” in the E. Jean Carroll case.

Stephanopoulos, a former Democratic strategist, had been advised against employing the term “rape” prior to the broadcast; however, he did so.

Carr continued to argue that Disney was only serving to exacerbate the public’s distrust by prioritizing its paid streaming services over content that could be accessed through its local, more reputable affiliates.
