Harris Called Out For Pretending To Be Tough On Border

Since taking the nomination from Joe Biden, Kamala Harris has done her best to try and portray herself as being “tough” on illegal immigration.

In a recent TV ad, the campaign emphasized Harris as a “border state prosecutor” known for her tough stance against criminal cartels and drug smugglers, along with her backing of “the toughest border security bill in decades.”

The problem is that no one should actually believe it, writes CNN.

That bill, which failed in the Senate in February and again in May, included $650 million for new border wall construction. Images of the border wall built during the Trump administration are featured in the Harris ads, yet Harris repeatedly criticized the wall over the years, describing it as an affront to both hers and America’s values.

In her 2019 book, “The Truths We Hold,” Harris called the wall “useless” and said it was “nothing more than a symbol, a monument standing in opposition to not just everything I value, but to the fundamental values upon which this country was built.”

A CNN KFile review of Harris’ social media posts found that she criticized the border wall more than 50 times during the Trump administration, calling it, among other things, “stupid,” “useless,” and a “medieval vanity project.”

As she tries to strengthen her image on the border, Harris will have to reckon with her years of opposing some of the very policies she now embraces. That includes building more border wall and also making it harder for migrants to come to the US seeking asylum.

Attacking immigration security is much more in line with what Harris and Biden have pushed over the past few years. In June, for example, the Biden administration announced plans to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

Right before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Elizabeth Warren expressed her excitement about Harris being the nominee, telling CNN that Harris is the candidate to “get it done.”

New Conservative Post noted that Warren’s comment, which says the quiet part out loud, will not likely be entirely welcomed by the Kamala Harris campaign. Over the past two weeks, the vice president and her allies in the media have attempted to downplay her role as “border czar,” hoping to separate her from Biden’s disastrous border policies, which have allowed over ten million migrants into the border.

Immigration and poor government leadership—i.e., Biden and Harris in general—have been near the top of voters’ policy concerns for nearly a year.
