A California sheriff is not happy with Kamala Harris after discovering his image is being featured in a new political campaign supporting her and her record on border security. Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux, who is also the president of the California State Sheriffs’ Association, claims that the ad distorts the facts and uses his likeness without permission.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Boudreaux made it clear that he does not support Harris’s campaign for president or any other political office. “In light of a recent political ad put out by Kamala Harris featuring Sheriff Boudreaux, as well as other local law enforcement, the Sheriff wants to make it abundantly clear that his image is being used without his permission, and he does NOT endorse Harris for President or any other political office,” the statement read.
Boudreaux, who has served in the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for 37 years, recalled a visit Harris made to California’s Central Valley in 2013 when she was the state’s attorney general. The visit—featured in the Harris campaign’s ad—was portrayed as part of Harris’s efforts to combat violent crime as a “border state prosecutor.” However, Boudreaux wants the public to know that the vice president is playing fast and loose with facts.
“As a matter of fact, I would like to point out the misleading information projected in that same political ad. In the ad, Harris claims to have spent decades fighting violent crime as a ‘border state prosecutor.’ The facts are that ‘then California Attorney General Kamala’ came to the Valley in 2014 touting a years-long investigation into a multi-national drug operation, with ties to Mexican drug cartels and prison gangs,” Boudreaux told the news channel.
Boudreaux recounted the specifics of the investigation, which led to the arrest of 11 individuals, including suspected “kingpin” Jose Magana of Dinuba. Despite Harris’s involvement, Boudreaux argued that her role in the operation was minimal and that she did little to address the broader issues of cartel activity and illegal border crossings.
“The truth is, Harris never cared about the cartels and did nothing to stop people from illegally crossing the border,” Boudreaux said, adding that Harris’s appearance at the time was all “smoke and mirrors.”
Boudreaux recalled that Harris cared very little for local law enforcement during her visit. “We were in the green room. She never came in and said hello to any of us. She walked up front, gave her presser, literally walked out, never said hi to any of us,” he said. “I’m disgusted because, you know, she didn’t shake hands. She didn’t say hello. And she’s taken credit for all this work that the locals did.”
The ad, writes The New York Post, “shows her brief trip ‘to the [Central] Valley in 2014 touting a years-long investigation into a multi-national drug operation, with ties to Mexican drug cartels and prison gangs,’ he noted.
Later, the narrator also promises Harris will ‘hire thousands more border agents and crack down on fentanyl and human trafficking,’ which Boudreaux said ‘completely made us mad.’
‘How can you go in and promote that you were this tight border person when all the troops are coming across the border, and you literally are eliminating all these task forces?’ he asked.
Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward, who is included in the footage too, also slammed Harris for misleading the public, saying her “hypocrisy knows no bounds.”
Harris has not been questioned about the border trip because, despite being the sitting vice president, she has yet to take an interview with any media, friendly or otherwise.
