Former President Trump was apparently giddy over Vice President Harris’s selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) for the Democratic ticket, describing it as a “shocking choice.”

“I would say my reaction is, I can’t believe it. I never thought I was going to be the one who was picked,” Trump said during a recent appearance on ‘Fox & Friends.’

“He’s a very liberal man, and he’s a shocking pick. I could not be more thrilled.” Trump continued

Referring to the independent senator from Vermont, Trump described Walz as a “smarter version” of Harris and “about the same as Bernie Sanders.”

Walz was also criticized by the Republican nominee for his perceived weakness on immigration and his heavy emphasis on transgender issues.

The former president also referenced the rioting in Minnesota that occurred following the murder of George Floyd by police in 2020.

Many Republicans have also criticized Walz for his delay in activating the National Guard to suppress the violent riots of 2020.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump expressed his belief that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) would have been a more formidible candidate than Walz.

He also reiterated the assertions of other Republicans who have indicated that the governor was overlooked for the position due to his Jewish heritage.

“I’m no big fan of Josh Shapiro. I know the state very well … but I would have said it would have been a better choice,” Trump said of Shapiro.

“I have very little doubt … it was because of the fact that he’s Jewish, and they think they’re going to offend somebody else,” he concluded.
