The guilty verdict in the controversial criminal trial against former President Donald Trump on Thursday elicited a strong response from a number of rumored top Republican vice presidential candidate Tim Scott, who cautioned that the case establishes a perilous precedent for the nation.
The decision is the result of a weeks-long courtroom battle in which Trump claimed that he was the victim of “political persecution.”
“Absolute injustice. This erodes our justice system. Hear me clearly: You cannot silence the American people. You cannot stop us from voting for change. Joe Biden — you’re fired. We the People stand with Donald J. Trump.” Scott wrote about a video he posted onto the X social media platform.
