Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) made significant news by officially endorsing former President Trump for the Republican nomination for president on Tuesday.

Hawley stated in a recent interview with Politico that he will support the Republican front-runner and has predicted Trump’s victory over the Republican nomination for over a year.

In addition to nearly ninety House members who have endorsed Trump’s candidacy, Hawley is one of at least eighteen Republican senators who have also done so.

Those congressional endorsements are unparalleled by any other candidate.

The support of the senator from Missouri follows a warning from Trump that he and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) should be “extremely cautious” in their respective reelection campaigns in 2024.

The Senate seats that are up for election in 2024 provide Republicans with additional opportunities to gain seats in 2020, placing Democrats likely on the defensive in an effort to retain a number of seats in crucial states.

However, Democrats have also expressed a desire to target incumbent Republicans such as Senators Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Cruz, and Hawley.
