In a possible 2024 contest, former President Trump leads Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) by an impressive 15 points among Republican primary voters, according to new Fox News poll.
According to the study, Trump, who began his reelection campaign in November, leads possible Republican primary competitors with 43 percent of the vote.
While DeSantis, came in second with 28 percent.
In spite of being considered a frontrunner in the race, DeSantis has still not officially declared his candidacy.
According to a Fox News survey, Trump and DeSantis are at the top of a probable GOP primary field of 15 candidates.
Trump’s former UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, who launched her 2024 campaign earlier this month, trailed DeSantis by 21 points, with only 7% believing she should win the GOP presidential nomination.
Haley tied with former Vice President Mike Pence, who received 7% of the vote.
Pence hasn’t announced if he’ll run, but he has suggested that a decision might be made this spring. Former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney (R) and Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) received only 2% of the vote.
In spite of the results of the Fox News polling, other polls have show DeSantis in the lead or at least neck and neck in a race against the former President.
The Fox News poll, conducted from February 19 to 22, polled 1,006 registered voters and had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points for the subset of respondents who said they’d vote in the Republican primary rather than the Democratic primary.
The poll was carried out in collaboration with Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research.
