President Donald Trump weighed in Wednesday on a surprising development out of the NFL, offering a full-throated endorsement of recently fired Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and urging teams with vacancies to move quickly.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump reacted to news that the Ravens had dismissed Harbaugh after an 18-year run, calling him a proven winner who should not remain unemployed for long.

“HIRE JOHN HARBAUGH, FAST,” Trump wrote. “HE, AND HIS BROTHER, ARE TOTAL WINNERS!!! President DJT”

Harbaugh’s sudden availability sent shockwaves through the league. The longtime head coach was let go Tuesday after Baltimore finished the season 8–9, marking just the third losing campaign of his nearly two decades with the franchise. Despite that down year, Harbaugh leaves behind one of the most successful tenures in modern NFL history.

During his time with the Ravens, Harbaugh guided the team to consistent playoff contention and captured a Super Bowl title in 2012, famously defeating his brother, then–San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, in the championship game. That victory cemented the Harbaugh name as one of football’s most recognizable coaching families.

Trump highlighted that family connection in his post. John Harbaugh’s brother, Jim Harbaugh, currently serves as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, who are set to face the New England Patriots on Sunday in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs.

Both brothers visited the White House in July, underscoring their prominence beyond the football field. During that visit, John Harbaugh publicly expressed support for the president, telling reporters, “I root for our president.”

Harbaugh’s dismissal came after a season that fell short of expectations in Baltimore, but his overall record with the Ravens remains strong. Over 18 years, he built a reputation for stability, discipline and competitiveness, qualities that have quickly made him one of the most sought-after coaching candidates on the market.

Several teams with current head coaching vacancies are believed to be interested in Harbaugh’s services. Among them are the New York Giants, the Cleveland Browns and the Atlanta Falcons, all of whom are reportedly exploring their options as they look to reset their franchises.

Trump’s endorsement added a political spotlight to an already headline-grabbing coaching shakeup. The president’s post reflected a broader admiration for winning cultures and leaders he views as successful, whether in politics, business or sports.

For Harbaugh, the president’s backing is unlikely to hurt his prospects. Despite one down season, his résumé includes a Super Bowl championship, years of playoff appearances and longevity rarely seen in today’s NFL.

As teams begin formal interview processes, the consensus around the league appears to be that John Harbaugh will not remain a free agent for long. With multiple franchises reportedly interested — and a public endorsement from the president himself — Harbaugh’s next chapter in professional football may be decided sooner rather than later.
