President-elect Donald Trump has criticized these appointments.
“It is disgraceful. Many are guilty of MAJOR CRIMES! DJT” Trump reportedly said.
A number of individuals were granted pardons by President Joe Biden on Monday.
These individuals included former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci, retired General Mark Milley, and Liz Cheney.
Additionally, members of the congressional select committee that investigated the incident that occurred on January 6 were also granted pardons.
According to the president’s statement, the action was framed as a necessary defense against attacks that were motivated by political considerations.
A quick response was sent to Kristen Welker of NBC News via text message by President Trump, who took a time to do so as the first day of inaugural ceremonies began.
In a statement that he issued to justify his decision, which was one of his final as president, President Joe Biden mentioned that he was attempting to shield the individuals named from “baseless and politically motivated investigations” that would be initiated, most likely by the administration that will be in power once Trump took office.
