On Friday, President Donald Trump reportedly revealed that he has canceled the security detail that was assigned to Dr. Anthony Fauci at the expense of the taxpayers.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) made a request for protection for Fauci in the year 2020.
The purpose of this request was to safeguard Fauci from the threats that he received in his role as the senior health official and public spokesperson. CNN was the first to report that this particular item was removed on Thursday evening.
Over the course of his visit to Asheville, North Carolina, to tour regions that were devastated by Hurricane Helene, President Trump was questioned about the decision on Friday.
After they had incorrectly asserted that Hunter Biden’s laptop possessed “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” President Trump revoked the security clearances of fifty-one intelligence officials.
Additionally, he revoked the information that was provided to former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former National Security Advisor John Bolton.
Upon being asked if he would feel a sense of partial responsibility in the event that something were to occur to Fauci or Bolton, Trump responded that he would not.
Fauci was granted a preemptive pardon by former President Joe Biden as he was leaving office in order to protect him from the vengeance that would be meted out by President Trump.
Although Trump had initially followed Fauci’s advice at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, he began to attack Fauci when the government’s pandemic response and recommendations proved to be unpopular.
Fauci’s recommendations began to be criticized by Trump.
Between the years 1984 and 2022, Fauci was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Additionally, he served as the principal medical advisor to the president between the years 2021 and 2022.
In 2021, President Trump presented Fauci and other members of Operation Warp Speed with presidential commendations in recognition of their dedication to the rapid development of vaccinations against the coronavirus.
