President Donald Trump has sparked a new round of controversy after posting an AI-generated video to Truth Social depicting a fictional arrest of former President Barack Obama. The video, which lacks any disclaimer identifying it as artificially produced, shows FBI agents handcuffing Obama in the Oval Office while Trump smiles in the background—a staged and entirely fabricated scenario.

The clip opens with a soundbite of Obama saying, “especially the President is above the law,” followed by a montage of U.S. politicians repeating, “no one is above the law.” The footage then shifts to the AI-generated arrest scene and ends with an image of Obama dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit behind bars.

The post follows a recent escalation in Trump’s rhetoric regarding Obama. The president has accused his predecessor of orchestrating “high-level election fraud.” Last week Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard claimed to possess “striking” and “overwhelming” evidence that senior Obama administration officials had politicized intelligence to fabricate the Trump-Russia collusion narrative after the 2016 election.

“Americans will finally learn the truth about how in 2016, intelligence was politicised and weaponised by the most powerful people in the Obama administration to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Donald Trump, subverting the will of the American people and undermining our democratic republic,” Gabbard wrote on Twitter.

Gabbard explained her discovery on Fox News over the weekend.

Some have speculated that more information will be released soon showing how Obama allegedly sabotaged the transition of power to Trump early in 2017.

Like his party, Obama has made the claim that Donald Trump is a “threat to democracy,” the kind of claim that could lead a president to take unprecedented action if he truly believed it. Following his party’s defeat, and using similar justification, the Obama administration allegedly the IRS to attack the Tea Party in an effort to preserve his reelection chances. The IRS was later forced to admit guilt and apologized after Barack Obama sailed to reelection in 2012.
