President Donald Trump has now reportedly declared that the American movie industry is “DYING” and announced a bold plan to revive it.

In a post on Truth Social, he attributed the industry’s decline to foreign competition, stating that other countries offer incentives that lure filmmakers and studios away from the U.S.

He characterized this as a national security threat and a form of propaganda.

To combat this trend, Trump authorized the implementation of a 100% tariff on movies produced abroad.

He directed the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative to initiate this process, emphasizing, “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

On a flight back to Washington, D.C., Trump discussed his plans with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who confirmed that the administration would move forward with this directive.

Trump’s announcement comes just over 100 days into his second term, during which he has already instituted various tariffs on foreign imports, including the recent “Liberation Day” tariffs.

While the Hollywood Reporter noted that several major films, such as “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” are currently being shot internationally, it remains unclear how these new tariffs will affect them.

Despite facing pushback from some Democrats and Republicans in Congress concerned about the economic implications of his tariff authority, Trump continues to assert his right to impose these measures.

He hinted at potential trade deals in the coming week, further indicating his administration’s focus on addressing trade imbalances.

In addition to his plans for the movie industry, Trump also announced the reopening of the infamous Alcatraz prison, signaling a busy agenda for his administration.
