In a new statement to the media on Tuesday, the incoming president expressed his desire to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
He also expressed his displeasure with the fact that Mexico was taking advantage of the United States in terms of commerce and immigration.
“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate. It’s appropriate. And Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country.” Trump remarked.

The remarks were made by president elect Trump while he was expressing his dissatisfaction with the wide trade deficit that the United States had with both Mexico and Canada.
Since his victory in the election held in November, he has expressed similar fears and has pledged to slap heavy tariffs on both of the countries that are in close proximity to him.
Over the past few months, President Trump has had conversations with both the outgoing Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, on his threats to impose tariffs.
Following Trudeau’s announcement of his resignation on Monday, he proposed that Canada join forces with the United States.
