President Donald Trump unleashed a fiery message Tuesday morning aimed at Minnesota residents and Democratic leaders as protests escalated across the state following the fatal shooting of Renee Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during an operation in Minneapolis.

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump framed the unrest as the result of failed leadership and lax immigration enforcement, sharply criticizing what he described as dangerous criminal activity enabled by Democratic policies. He questioned whether Minnesotans truly want to live in communities filled with violent criminals, including convicted murderers, rapists, drug dealers, and individuals he claimed were released from foreign prisons and mental institutions.

Trump said ICE agents are simply trying to remove dangerous individuals from American neighborhoods and return them to their countries of origin or prior institutions. He blamed what he called “Sleepy Joe Biden’s horrible open borders policy” for allowing such individuals to enter the country illegally, arguing that wherever ICE operates, crime declines.

The president pointed to Chicago as an example, claiming that despite opposition from what he called weak and incompetent local leadership, immigration enforcement there resulted in thousands of criminals being removed and noticeable improvements in public safety. Trump then turned his criticism squarely on Minnesota Democrats, accusing them of welcoming chaos created by anarchists and professional agitators. He alleged that state leaders prefer the unrest because it distracts from what he claimed was $19 billion stolen by corrupt individuals, though he did not elaborate further in the post.

Trump concluded his message with an ominous warning directed at Minnesotans, writing in all capital letters that a “day of reckoning and retribution” is coming, while urging what he described as the “great people of Minnesota” not to fear.

The post came one day after the state of Minnesota, along with the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the recent surge of ICE agents in the area. The lawsuit argues that the expanded federal immigration presence amounts to a “federal invasion.”

Protests have spread throughout Minnesota in the days following the death of Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. According to reports, Good was shot while sitting in her vehicle after she drove in the direction of an ICE agent during an operation, having allegedly blocked the road. Demonstrators have taken to the streets to protest both the shooting and the broader immigration enforcement actions in the state.

Trump administration officials have defended the ICE agent involved, asserting that the shooting was justified as an act of self-defense. Officials have described Good as a “domestic terrorist,” claiming she intended to strike the agent with her car.

The clash highlights the growing tension between the Trump administration and Democratic-controlled states and cities over immigration enforcement, public safety, and federal authority. As protests continue and legal challenges move forward, the situation in Minnesota has become another flashpoint in the national debate over immigration, policing, and the use of federal power.
