Sunny Hostin, one of President Trump’s fiercest critics on daytime television, says Democrats should not rush to impeach him if they win control of Congress next week.

The ABC co-host weighed in Friday on “The View.” The panel had played a clip of former Vice President Kamala Harris arguing against impeachment.

In the clip, Harris said that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea because Democrats have limited resources.

Hostin said she agreed.

“In terms of Trump, I don’t think that’s what should be on the agenda,” Hostin said.

She noted that Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has moved to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Hostin said Democrats should focus on undoing what she described as unpopular Trump policies.

Co-host Ana Navarro went even further.

“I’m completely against impeachment,” Navarro said. She argued there are “100 other ways” to hold the Trump administration accountable. She added that impeachment is moot without the 67 Senate votes needed to remove a president from office.

The panel was united in opposing a third impeachment of Trump. The co-hosts said they would rather see a new Congress tackle issues such as affordability and tariffs.

The comments mark a notable shift for Hostin. Last month, as “The View” returned from its summer break, she raised the possibility of invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump. She speculated that the president’s own Cabinet might move to remove him if Republicans lose the House and Senate. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back at the time and said the Cabinet would never do it.

Impeachment has become a sensitive subject for Democrats in the final days of the campaign. Some members have openly floated the idea. Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that impeachment is possible if Democrats retake Congress. Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., said on CNN that Democrats could use impeachment as a tool to address what he called Trump’s “corruption.”

Democratic leaders, however, have tried to keep the focus on the economy. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has said impeachment would not be a top priority if Democrats win back the House. Rank-and-file members have warned that the issue could muddy the party’s message on affordability.

Republicans, meanwhile, have made the threat a central part of their closing pitch. Trump has warned supporters that Democrats will impeach him if they take the House. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., has argued that voters who don’t want a “two-year president” can’t allow the House to flip.

Earlier this week, Hostin also urged Democrats to be ready to defend the election results. She claimed that Republicans are already signaling they will challenge any losses.

Navarro closed Friday’s segment by urging viewers to make a plan to vote before Tuesday.
