Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard reportedly announced her commitment to aggressively pursue individuals within the intelligence community who have leaked classified information to legacy media outlets, including NBC News and The Washington Post.

Gabbard emphasized that these leaks, which she described as politically motivated, undermine national security and erode public trust.

In a statement on social media, she expressed her determination to hold accountable those responsible for unauthorized disclosures, asserting that such actions violate the law.

Gabbard highlighted that leaks regarding U.S. foreign policy on Iran, Israel, and Russia have become too common, often without any investigations or repercussions.

She cited specific instances of classified information being leaked to various media outlets, including the Huffington Post and The Washington Post.

Gabbard indicated that one leaker provided information about U.S.-Russia relations to NBC News, while another leaked details concerning the National Counterintelligence and Security Center to The Record.

She reiterated that any unauthorized release of classified information would be treated seriously and met with legal consequences.

Senator Tom Cotton praised Gabbard’s efforts, expressing gratitude for her commitment to ending leaks and the politicization of intelligence.

Gabbard was confirmed as DNI in a narrow 52-48 vote last month and had previously vowed to restore trust in the intelligence community.

Her announcement reflects a broader aim to refocus the intelligence community on its national security mission, reinforcing the idea that politically motivated leaks will not be tolerated.

Gabbard’s actions mark a significant step in addressing concerns about accountability within the intelligence apparatus and the potential risks posed by unauthorized disclosures.
