Former President Barack Obama was criticized by a relative of one of the hostages held against their will in Gaza for asserting that “nobody’s hands are clean” in regards to the events preceding Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attack.
Ofir, the 18-year-old nephew of Yael Angel and a dual Dutch-Israeli national, was abducted by the terrorists who carried out the attack while he was visiting his fiancée in a kibbutz near the Gaza border.
He is among the over two hundred individuals still detained in Gaza whose whereabouts are unknown; only five have been rescued.
“Two hundred and forty people are held hostage and the world is silent, and there are ‘buts’ and ‘perhapses,’ I’d like to see Mr. Obama if one of his daughters was held hostage by Hamas. In two days, she’d be out, and there’d be no ‘buts’. There are no buts or perhapses. Hamas can be destroyed.” she said.
Her comments came in response to Obama’s remarks which he made on a recent episode of the liberal Pod Save America.
“If you want to solve the problem, then you have to take in the whole truth, and you then have to admit nobody’s hands are clean, that all of us are complicit to some degree.” Obama said.
The Biden administration has consistently and unequivocally reaffirmed its backing for Israel’s military endeavors to depose Hamas from Gaza and strip it of its military capabilities.
However, it has also exhorted Israel to do more to prevent the loss of civilian lives.
The Health Ministry of Gaza, which is under the jurisdiction of Hamas, has reported that the death toll has surpassed 10,000 individuals, comprising both combatants and civilians.
