Transgender athletes will reportedly no longer be permitted to compete in women’s sports, according to an announcement made by the NCAA on Thursday.
Instead, participation would be restricted to individuals who were assigned female at birth.
This policy change, which was accepted by the Board of Governors of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), comes one day after President Trump signed an executive order that prohibits transgender athletes from participation in sports that cater to girls and women.
Regardless of eligibility requirements under the former guideline, the new NCAA policy goes into effect immediately and applies to all women’s sports players globally.
The NCAA has officially changed their ‘transgender participation’ policy effective immediately.
I can’t even begin to tell you how vindicating it feels knowing no girl will ever have to experience what my teammates and I did.

According to the revised guideline, transgender athletes are still permitted to compete in the men’s category of competition.
In the past, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) said that the standards for transgender participation in each sport were determined by the national or international governing organization of that sport.
The controversy surrounding the admittance of transgender athletes in women’s sports has become a political lightning rod, causing a rift in the nation and playing an increasingly important part in political campaigns.
An executive order issued by Trump this week fulfilled a campaign promise that had been made for a long time and rallied a significant portion of his support in advance of the election.
Baker stated in front of a Senate committee that he is aware of less than ten transgender athletes who are currently competing in collegiate sports.
This represents less than .002 percent of all NCAA athletes across the country.
