Fox News host Lawrence Jones took aim at Elon Musk on Monday, tearing into the billionaire Tesla CEO’s take on artificial intelligence and the future of the American workweek.

Jones didn’t hold back, declaring that Musk is “so smart, he’s dumb.”

The comments came on “Fox & Friends” following a segment on the “Sunday scaries,” the familiar feeling of dread many Americans get as the weekend winds down and the workweek approaches.

During the discussion, Jones made clear he would be open to a shorter workweek, under one condition.

“If people can work a little bit more on Monday through Thursday, I’m for the three-day weekend,” Jones said.

Co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy then brought up an interview from last week in which Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos predicted that AI will turn all of our lives into a three-day workweek.

Jones, however, wasn’t ready to go quite that far.

“I’m not going that far,” he said.

The conversation then shifted to Musk when co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that Bezos is “more optimistic than Elon Musk.”

That’s when Jones turned his attention to the X owner, questioning how Musk talks about the technology.

“For him to be such a genius, he is the worst person for PR when it comes to AI,” Jones said.

Jones went on to deliver his blunt assessment of the tech mogul.

“He’s so smart, he’s dumb. I mean that in a genuine way,” he said.

The “Fox & Friends” host then took issue with the kind of messaging he said is coming from Musk on the subject.

“Who says like, ‘Oh, we’re going to replace your job, and you’re only going to work two days a week.’ That creates inspiration for AI. We have to stop,” Jones said.

His remarks highlighted a contrast between the two billionaires’ visions. While Bezos has predicted a three-day workweek thanks to AI, Kilmeade noted that Musk’s outlook is less optimistic, and Jones argued that Musk’s way of talking about AI does the technology no favors.

Jones, for his part, signaled he could get behind a three-day weekend, but only if people are willing to put in a little more work Monday through Thursday.

Notably, Fox used the letters AI in its report on the topic, which runs counter to President Donald Trump’s preferred term, SI.

Last week, Trump made his position on the terminology crystal clear in a post on Truth Social.

“The White House considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!” Trump wrote.

Even so, the term AI was front and center throughout Monday’s discussion on “Fox & Friends,” as the hosts debated Bezos’ prediction and Jones laid into Musk over how he talks about the technology and what it could mean for American workers’ jobs and the workweek.
